Say goodbye to empty tables in your venue

You know the scene, your chef's outside having a cigarette, the waiters are standing around talking, and there's this deafening, silence that should be filled with the laughter of guests, but is instead dominated by the ticking of the electricity meter.

Of course you do. Any venue owner has experienced this, especially over the past two years, and the serious ones have probably already taken steps to avoid it.

Well, what if I told you we'd found a way to make sure this doesn't happen?

What if I showed you how to have a stream of hungry, thirsty, paying customers booking you up each day?

Well, that's what I can do for you.

Who am I?

This is me (I’m the guy behind the bar).

Up until this point I’d never worked in a bar before.

In fact, I had dedicated 15 years of my working life to building and crafting a career within the events industry as a freelance production manager.

This was March 2020. We all know what followed next, and, spoiler alert, events didn’t come out too well.

Over the next 3 weeks I watched as every single bit of work I had booked in cancelled.

“Sorry, the job has gone away”

“Sorry, the client’s postponed”

“Sorry we can’t pay your cancellation fee”

“Sorry, we’ve got nothing going on”

Within a month I had nothing. My entire career had crumbled, and there was no solution in sight. I was living off savings, and I only had a couple of months of living capital saved up before I was in real trouble.

So why did I go to a bar?

The day this picture was taken, my good friend (and now business partner) Kyle called me out of desperation and asked me to come in and help at his restaurant.

All of his staff had called in saying they didn’t feel comfortable working, and that they were staying home. Kyle was running the restaurant by himself and needed someone to man the bar while he was cooking downstairs.

So of course I went in, and I’m not ashamed to admit, I poured some of the worst pints this industry has ever seen.

With events out of the window, and bills looming, I had to move quick on formulating a plan. As a freelancer, I didn’t have the luxury of furlough. I couldn’t lie around knowing that 80% of my income would be handed to me – it was game time.

I spent the next two years nurturing a side hustle and hobby called ADVRT. A fledgling digital marketing agency. I worked every day during lockdowns, unlocking’s, and more lockdowns to perfect my craft and discover how I could serve my customer.

It was over those two years of deep focussed work that I realised I had the tools to make a real difference to an industry that needed it the most.

Hospitality is a fast-paced industry, always looking to do something a bit better, or a bit differently, but when it comes to marketing there are SO many missed opportunities.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Companies already doing fairly good revenue were leaving HUGE opportunities on the table. But why?

So I set out to prove my theory. I approached some local venues and offered my services, knowing that I would be able to attract more customers.

Over the next 6 months, 1 customer turned to 2, 2 to 5, 5 to 10. I was finding that I was making a difference to real businesses, and helping them get heard above the noise.

I now help over 20 hospitality venues and brands make sure they never experience the pain of seeing swathes of empty tables again.

In addition to this, I am also now a co-owner of a venue here in Southampton. I say this not to brag, but to show you that I know first-hand the pain that hospitality business owners have gone through. The pressures of not knowing about COVID restrictions, how consumer behaviour will be affected, or whether you’ll be able to afford the wage bill at the end of the month.

I’ve been through it with you, and now I want to help you make sure it never happens again.

If you’re in the business of providing exceptional service to customers that you care about, I want to hear from you.

If you’re struggling to see an increase in growth within your venue, I want to hear from you.

If you’ve been burnt by marketing ‘gurus’ who have never seen the industry through your eyes, I want to hear from you.

We’re ADVRT, and we help venues just like yours remain fully booked with happy, hungry, paying customers.

We’ve got a lot to catch up on. Let me know when you’re ready to chat.
