How to grant a digital marketing agency access to your Google My Business profile.

What is Google My Business/Google Business Profile?

Firstly, if you don’t know already, Google My Business (now known as a Google Business Profile) is a free, organic listing that is shown in relevant Google searches. It outlines a business’s contact details, reviews, opening hours and updates, as well as showing its locations on Google Maps. It’s an incredibly valuable marketing tool to take advantage of.

How do I add another user to my Google Business Profile?

As a business owner, you may want to offload this platform to a digital marketing agency, such as ADVRT. This enables industry professionals to help optimise your Google My Business (GMB) profile and improve your business’s Google Search ranking.

To do so, you will need to grant access to the profile so they can manage it on your behalf. But don’t worry – getting an agency or person set up on your Google My Business is really easy. We’re going to run you through the steps right now:

Add Owners or Managers:

Step 1:

Sign in to Google My Business

Step 2:

With the new Google experience, you will then be taken to the Google search engine where you will be able to see the search results for your business and your Google Business Profile on the right.

(When working with ADVRT, the email address shown in the image above is the one to use).

Select the permissions that you would like to assign this user:

Owners have total control over the entire account (that’s you!). While you can give a third party the ownership permission, we’d recommend giving them the manager role instead to retain an element of security over your business account.

Managers can do everything that an owner can, except they can’t add or remove other users, or remove listings. We’d recommend assigning this permission status to your external marketing company as it allows them to take care of all marketing-related tasks.

 Step 6:

Click ‘invite‘ to send the invitation. Once the invitation has been sent, the agency will receive a notification that you are inviting them to manage this GMB profile and will be able to accept. You can cancel the invitation or revoke access at any point by returning to the ‘Managers‘ button from step 4.
